Oxfordshire County Council is looking for an Operational Manger for Highway Schemes to join our team!
About the role
The Operational Manager for Highway Schemes leads a dedicated team managing the County Council’s core capital programme of highway maintenance and improvement for carriageways, footways, drainage, and traffic and road safety assets. across the county.
In this senior appointment, you will be the accountable officer for a large and technically diverse series of concurrent programmes. You will oversee the design, development, and the delivery of these technically demanding work streams ensuring the bets interests of the County Council and our customers.
About you
You will be an Incorporated Engineer, with aspirations of becoming Chartered. You will have a background in Highways, and with experience of Local Government.
You will demonstrate a unique blend of proven highway engineering competence / experience, with an equally important aptitude and skill for business planning and programme control.
You will have experience of working with Communities, Staff, Council Members, Partners and Suppliers to ensure the delivery of required outcomes, in a consistent way, using the right skills and the most appropriate delivery methods.
You will be adept at positively representing the County Council; whether that be in person, or through written correspondence.
You will have a strong programme approach to all aspects of service delivery and be able to use these skills to good effect in effective reporting, and ensuring intended outcomes are achieved.
The designated work location will be in County Hall, Oxford, although much of the work is anticipated to be able to be carried out whilst agile working, (i.e. other offices in Oxfordshire or from home). You will be occasionally required to carry out site visits and must be able to respond accordingly.
