Are you passionate about shaping the future of our young generation? Our Youth Justice Service play a pivotal role in steering young individuals away from the path of offending. Working in tandem with families, schools, and key agencies, we tackle the root causes of their actions, ensuring a brighter tomorrow. Our presence is not just felt in the lives of these youth, but in the community as a whole.

The role

As a Youth Justice Service Team Manager, you will oversee and support a team of Youth Justice Staff who are mostly either Social Work or Probation qualified as well as alternatively qualified and non- qualified staff.

The team is multi agency and has Police and CAMHS staff in the Team. There is a great deal of multi- agency partnership working and liaison with colleagues in social care and probation teams.

To thrive in this role, you'll bring:

  • Credentials and Experience: A recognised social work or probation qualification and current registration with Social Work England, accompanied by extensive Youth Justice experience and legal knowledge at least at Senior Practitioner level.
  • Leadership and Mentorship: You're not just a manager; you're a leader who can inspire, mentor, and build high-performing teams from diverse backgrounds.
  • Change Management: Your experience in complex environments has equipped you to lead change and uphold best practices even in demanding circumstances.
  • Community and Partner Engagement: You have a knack for building strong relationships with partners, agencies, and communities to ensure a supportive environment for children and families.
  • Strategic Decision-Making: You're skilled at making clear decisions that mitigate potential risks, particularly when intervention is needed.

Essex County Council welcomes those who are passionate about making a difference. If you're ready to contribute to an environment that is both challenging and rewarding, where excellence is the norm, join us in shaping a brighter future for children and families.
