Are you a Trading Standards professional who would you like to play a leading national role in protecting consumers from online scams and other harms? If so, we would love to hear from you.
The role is not limited to fully qualified officers, we’re very happy to hear from applicants who have started the CTSI training programme or expect to qualify soon, and who bring practical experience from a Trading Standards setting.
Who we are
From counterfeit goods and large frauds to illicit tobacco and vapes, our core aim is to protect consumers from online harm. We do this by investigating and disrupting harmful web sites and other online platforms. We also help build capacity within the trading standards profession at a local and regional level, delivering training and best practice guidance so officers are better equipped to gather evidence and investigate online crime.
The role
As a Trading Standards Officer, you will play a leading role in our Disruptions Team in detecting, researching and disrupting online harm. You will work alongside our Disruption Team Manager in leading investigations and project work, including conducting online research and test purchasing. As this is a national role, you will work closely with colleagues in trading standards teams, regulators and law enforcement across England and Wales.
What you will bring
Candidates will have an enthusiasm to protect consumers and tackle online harm. Although experience of online investigations, internet technology and open-source intelligence is desirable, we do offer training and career development opportunities for candidates who might be new to the field. We would particularly like to hear from candidates who have had experience in preparing and delivering training and other learning materials. You will have a thorough understanding of relevant legislation and be an excellent communicator, both verbal and written.
What we Offer
In addition to your salary, we offer a range of great benefits to help you financially make life a bit easier.
