The Wakefield and Kirklees Community Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Team are looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic and highly motivated Band 6 Registered Nurse/Practitioner with a strong interest in IPC to join our team. We require the candidate to have significant clinical practice with experience of working alongside an Infection Prevention Team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate to take their interest in IPC to the next level and become a community sector IPC professional. At times, this job role can be challenging but extremely rewarding and we will offer training and support to enable you to flourish and make the transition from your current health professional role to community IPC practice.
The role is fundamentally based in the community sector working with care homes, general practices, social care services, educational settings and heath inclusion settings. The standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, but may vary depending on the flexibility of the successful candidate or service requirements. A principal aim of the IPC Team is to work with all key stakeholders across the health and social care economy to drive local improvement, to reduce infections and improve patient safety.
You will support the development of a co-ordinated approach to the prevention and control of health and social care associated infections within the Wakefield and Kirklees areas, as well as other communicable infectious diseases. You will be responsible for leading the agenda in an identified locality; undertaking IPC audits; deliver IPC training, undertake surveillance of healthcare associated infections, input on data collection systems and other duties as directed by the Lead IPCN and Senior IPCN/Ps.
You will need to be a team player with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and have the ability to work under pressure. The successful candidate will need to be self-motivated and have a flexible approach to work, acting as a role model across the Health and Social care economy.
The successful candidate will be employed by Wakefield Council and will work as part of a shared IPC Team between Wakefield and Kirklees Council. While the role is based within the Council, NHS terms and conditions are applicable where appropriate.
We actively encourage prospective applicants to contact the Lead IPC Nurse and, where possible, visit the team to gain a better understanding of this community based IPC role.
