Are you a passionate and qualified Speech and Language Therapist looking to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people? Join our dynamic and supportive team in North Yorkshire and help shape inclusive, impactful communication support across a wide range of educational and community settings.

About the service

What makes our service different is the mix of settings, the flexibility in how we work, and the expectation that therapists can use their expertise creatively. We are focused on what will make the biggest difference for the child or young person in front of us.

We’re looking for Speech and Language Therapists who want to make a real difference across North Yorkshire. Our service is growing and changing as part of the wider SEND reforms, and we’re building something that feels practical, responsive, and child‑centred. If you’re ready for a role where your professional judgement is trusted and your ideas help shape how we work, we’d be very happy to hear from you.

Our Speech and Language Therapy team sits within North Yorkshire Council’s SEND and Inclusion services. We work across a wide range of settings and pathways, and our remit is deliberately broad so that children and young people can access the right support at the right time.

You’ll find us working in:

  • Targeted mainstream provisions where we support schools to meet needs early and effectively
  • Personalised learning colleges, helping young people with learning and communication differences access meaningful education and preparation for adulthood
  • No Wrong Door, where communication needs often sit alongside trauma, care experience, and social‑emotional support needs
  • Youth Justice Services, supporting young people whose communication needs are often hidden but having a significant impact
  • Statutory work, contributing to EHCPs where provision sits above and beyond the NHS offer

 About the role

You’ll be part of a friendly, supportive team of therapists, specialist teachers and educational psychologists who work closely with families, schools, early years settings, social care, and health partners. The role offers a genuinely varied caseload, with opportunities to develop skills across a wide range of clinical areas.

You’ll have the chance to:

  • Work directly with children and young people across mainstream, specialist, and alternative settings
  • Embed communication-friendly support and strategies across educational settings, working alongside SENCOs and teaching staff
  • Build strong relationships with schools and colleges, becoming a trusted link for your local area
  • Contribute to statutory assessments and shape provision for children with more complex needs
  • Work within No Wrong Door and Youth Justice to support vulnerable young people and the staff who work with them to understand the impact of their speech, language and communication needs
  • Be part of a service that is still evolving — your ideas and experience will help shape how we work going forward

We’re looking for therapists who are adaptable, reflective, and comfortable working in a service that is growing and changing. If you enjoy variety, value collaboration, and want to work in a team where you can have a real-world impact, this could be a great fit.
