Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for you to join Adoption Now, a busy, committed, and experienced adoption service.  We are keen to have an enthusiastic and motivated social worker to join us within our Regional Adoption Agency. Adoption Now is a partnership with Bolton, Oldham, Rochdale, Tameside, Bury and Blackburn with Darwen Councils.

The role will be based in the Adoption Support workstream of the agency and is based in Bolton.

Adoption Now has an ambitious plan for our Adoption Support service that includes a range of enhanced training opportunities. These opportunities currently include approaches such as Theraplay, DDP, NVR and Therapeutic Life Story Work to support and assess the needs of adoptive families.

About You

You will have the skills, knowledge, and experience to ensure effective assessments and provisions of services to adopted children, adoptive families and birth families who require them.

You will be able to:

  •  Ensure that adopted children and their adoptive families who may need support, receive appropriate assessments which identify needs.
  • Create, develop, and deliver a range of support services. (This may involve some evening and weekend working).Work with social workers and other professionals/agencies as appropriate, to ensure delivery of appropriate interventions and support to adopted children, their adoptive families and birth relatives as appropriate.
  • Lead the development of responsive adoption support, including therapeutic interventions.
  • Provide advice and consultation to social workers, link workers and adoptive families.
  • Assist in the delivery of a training programme for staff and adoptive families.
  • Cooperate fully with external monitoring of the service, including inspections.

You will need to be:

  • A qualified as a social worker and registered with Social Work England.
  • Experienced in assessments with good written and communication skills.
  • Knowledgeable in safeguarding and statutory responsibilities in relation to children and adults.
  • Able to demonstrate a high level of knowledge in relation to developments within the field of adoption support, and to assist the department in any changes necessary to maintain a high standard of service.
  • Able to assist in the monitoring, evaluation, and performance management of adoption support plans, together with the wider service.
