Administrative Officer

The Headteacher and Governors of this Outstanding Maintained Nursery School are seeking to appoint a highly organised, professional and friendly Administrative Officer to join our team.
Seaham Harbour Nursery School is a friendly, supportive and inclusive environment for the whole school community where everyone is respected and valued.
This is a key post within the school. You will be responsible for the efficient day-to-day running of the school office, providing high-quality administrative, finanacial and organisational support, and acting as the first point of contact for parents, staff and visitors.
The successful candidate will:
Be experienced in working in school administration
Have experience of working school systems such as SIMS/Arbor, Oracle, Office 365 etc
Have excellent IT skills
Manage the day-to-day operation of the nursery school office ensuring office systems and procedures are efficient and effective
Maintain a welcoming, calm, supportive and well organised presence within the school office
Provide a full range of administrative support to the Headteacher and senior staff
Act as the first point of contact for parents,carers and visitors
Deal with telephone, email and face to face enquiries in a professional and courteous manner
Maintain accurate pupil records including admissions and attendance
Support statuory returns and Local Authority processes
Undertake financial administration (orders, invoices, budget support) and assist with budget monitoring and record keeping
Manage and maintain accurate, auditable records for the Private School Fund and the collection of paid services/fees from parents
Organise and maintain school office systems, records and databases (eg SIMS/ Arbor) Support recruitment processes and maintain the Single Central Record
Ensure compliance with GDPR, safeguarding and statutuory requirements
The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for this post

Standard term time only pay is calculated on the basis of the following:
• Number of ‘teaching’ weeks – 38 weeks; plus
• Public (bank) holidays – 1.6 weeks (8 days); plus
• Individual leave entitlement - 5.4 weeks (27 days) or 6.4 weeks (32 days)
Individual leave entitlement is calculated on the length of continuous service. Employees with less than 5 years’ service will receive 27 days annual leave. Employees with more than 5 years’ service will receive 32 days annual leave. For example:
Calculation for employees with less than 5 years’ service:
38 weeks (term time) + 27 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 45 weeks’ pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments
Calculation for employees with more than 5 years’ service:
38 weeks (term time) + 32 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 46 weeks’ pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments
