Sandwell Adult and Family learning are looking for an experienced support member of staff for its adult education learning service based in Sandwell.  This is a full-time post and an employed fixed term contract from March 2026, subject to continued funding by WMCA, this will be renewed each year.

The successful applicant will be required to inspire and support adult learners to successfully complete their course/qualification. Predominantly, the courses will be English and maths, but other subjects may also require support. You will monitor the progress of individuals and keep accurate, up to date records of achievements after every lesson. You will support the tutor in the classroom and offer 1-1 tutorials face to face and through online platforms, all the tasks will be outlined by the relevant tutor.

You will be required to assist in the initial assessment process, facilitate support sessions and lead learner forums. You will support the English curriculum quality lead with marking and assessing initial assessment paperwork. At certain times of the year, you may be required to cover a class. In return there is a competitive salary, mileage and generous holiday entitlement.

You must hold the following qualifications;

• To hold a minimum level 2 certificate in learning support
• GSCE English and Maths at grade 4-9/ grade C or Functional skills English and Maths level 2
• Minimum of 1 years’ experience of supporting adults in an adult education setting
• Experience of working alongside tutors within English and Maths adult delivery

Hours: 37 Hours Per week 

A basic DBS check will be required for this role.
