The service supports various departments across the council with their data and analysis requirements which in turn supports service planning, evaluations and improvements aimed at Children, Young People and Families.

The Post

We are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable individual to join the Performance and Analysis Service. The Post will require the delivery of reliable and timely data and analysis to support Children, Young People and Families and Service Providers within Sheffield as stated in the associated job description and person specification. At present the Performance and Analysis Service has a particular need to support services within specific areas as outlined below:

  • The post has a main focus on the collection, processing and analysis of Early Years and Childcare data, primarily through the termly Early Years Census, which delivers information for the funding of childcare hours, informs sufficiency within the sector and produces data for the completion of statutory returns.
  • The post will require close working relationships to be maintained with customers to support their use of an online data collection portal and ensure their returns meet the required standards of eligibility and data quality. Similarly, there will be a requirement to work closely with other portfolios and other members of the Performance and Analysis Service to ensure joined up and customer focused services are delivered, in particular the development and delivery of scheduled and ad hoc reports.
  • The post will operate within a small team and may be required to support other areas of work should the need arise.

About You

You will need good IT literacy with an understanding of how information flows through databases and how to extract data. You will be able to analyse and interpret data and have good communication skills to ensure customers understand the benefits and limitations of information produced. You will be able to build strong relationships with customers and colleagues and will be able to organise your workload within the team.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
