An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, committed and experienced Planner to join our fast-paced Planning Policy team.
Kirklees Council is looking for a planner with experience who is either chartered or working towards becoming chartered.
Kirklees is actively shaping the future of the district preparing a new Local Plan that will guide the delivery of new homes and jobs, helping to create sustainable communities for the future and maximise the districts potential within the Leeds City Region. The Plan will place a strong emphasis on the creation of high-quality places and place making recognising the diversity and character of our district, addressing the challenges of climate change, supporting the transition to a net-zero carbon future, and delivering the Councils ambitious programme for town centre regeneration.
With the governments new growth agenda and plan making reform this is an excellent opportunity for a Planner to join the Planning Policy team to prepare policies and proposals for the new Kirklees Local Plan. The role also involves close collaboration with Development Management, providing planning policy advice on applications and working across Council services to support the delivery of our exciting Blueprint regeneration programmes for Huddersfield, Dewsbury and other centres.
In addition, you will help support local communities preparing Neighbourhood Plans, respond to consultations, and undertake data collection and monitoring. Good knowledge of national, regional and local policy, guidance and relevant legislation relating to Planning is therefore essential.

Additional Salary Information: you will also be entitled to a retention payment of £2,000 per year based on 37hrs per week or pro rata for hours worked. This retention payment will be spilt into two payments, in December and June. You become eligible for the payment after 6 months employment and successful completion of your probationary period. The payment of this retention payment is reviewed annually.
