About the programme
We are looking to recruit effective, resilient and highly motivated individuals to join our Children and Families Service as part of our Best Start in Life Programme. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering North Yorkshire's Best Start in Life vision, supporting children, young people and families to access the right help at the right time and improving outcomes through early intervention and prevention.
About the role
Working closely with Children and Families Service colleagues, health partners, early years settings, schools, voluntary and community organisations, the successful applicants will provide targeted intervention and support to children and families facing emerging challenges. You will work directly with families using a strengths-based approach, building positive relationships, identifying needs, and supporting sustainable change that improves outcomes for children and young people.
You will be willing to take on a challenge and have experience of working directly with children, young people and families. You will have strong communication and engagement skills, experience of building positive relationships, and the ability to work collaboratively with partners to coordinate support around families. You will be passionate about helping families build on their strengths, increase resilience and achieve positive outcomes.
North Yorkshire's Children and Families Service has developed a highly effective Strength in Relationships Practice Model, and you will work within this model to deliver strengths-based, relationship-focused interventions that empower families and build on existing family and community strengths.
This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of the continued development of Best Start in Life – Family Hubs and wider family support services across the county. You will contribute to the delivery of innovative, community-based support that enables children and families to thrive.

It is an exciting time in Children and Young People's Services in North Yorkshire as we plan our approach in respect of the Families First Partnership Programme and how we will be responding to the social care reforms. Work is underway to plan our approach and implementation for 2027. As a result of this, some realignment may happen with job roles in the future, and we want to be transparent about this in respect of this role.
We promote flexible working, including the ability to work remotely from a variety of locations as well as from home, wherever appropriate to support effective service delivery. Applicants should indicate their preferred base location(s) within their application.
