Wakefield Council’s Health & Safety Team now have an exciting opportunity for Health & Safety Adviser to join our service. The role reflects our commitment to professional continuous development and organisational growth.
We are seeking an experienced and proactive professional to play a key role in developing and delivering council-wide health and safety strategies, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and promoting employee wellbeing across all directorates.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Undertaking Health & Safety Audits, workplace Inspections and compliance monitoring
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the Council’s strategic health and safety management systems
- Design and embed procedures that promote a positive health and safety culture at every level of the organisation
- Provide expert advice, guidance, and training to managers and employees across all services
- Ensure robust governance arrangements are in place, maintained, and regularly reviewed.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to lead on specialist areas, including fire safety and other key topics.
You will be a confident and credible health and safety professional support with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels. You will have:
- Proven experience in delivering health and safety advice within a complex organisation.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practice.
- Excellent communication and training skills.
- The ability to support a positive and proactive safety culture.
A working knowledge of outdoor education, CLEAPSS, and school governance would be advantageous, particularly in supporting our maintained schools.
Membership of IOSH at Technical level (Tech IOSH) or above.
