In the Bi-Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster, we support people’s independence and wellbeing, and work hard to enable them to live in the community with dignity, choice and control.

The service aims to promote the personalisation agenda so that people can choose how they would like their care and support to be delivered. ILA’s are also a very important part of our team structures and complete a variety of tasks. The ILA post is a perfect opportunity for newly qualified Social Workers and OT’s to gain more experience working in Adult Social Care.

The Role:

Working closely with our Social Workers, you will carry out assessments, complete the care planning process, and set up Direct Payments. By getting to know people as individuals and understanding their specific circumstances, you’ll deliver person-centred care. Expect to manage your own caseload of service users, and Review the Direct Payment packages of care that you have set up within 6 weeks to ensure that it is meeting the need. You’ll also be alert to risks and to the need to involve other professionals. Although we’ll offer you the chance to work independently, you’ll have the full support of our close-knit community team.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information.

About You:

This is an ideal career development role for someone who is interested in a career in social care or occupational therapy, as it has the potential to lead to an apprenticeship and/or professional qualifications. You’re likely to have some relevant experience that’s given you an insight into issues around ageing and disability: you might have worked with a relevant charity, or perhaps as an OT Assistant or housing support worker. Well-organised and responsible, you’ll need strong communication skills and a willingness to learn and work as part of a team. Although we’ll provide full training in systems and processes, good Maths and English and some IT skills will be an excellent foundation.

In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays.

Please apply online explaining how you meet the requirements set out in the person specification and job description. CV’s will not be considered for this role.

We reserve the right to extend or close this vacancy early without warning subject to the volume of suitable applicants.

Application process

Please do not upload any documents, including CVs/Covering Letters or supporting statements, as these documents will not be reviewed and could result in your application not being shortlisted.

You should describe how you meet the person specification requirements for the position you are applying for in Section G of the application form.
