Who?
We have an opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join our busy Private Housing Team.
The team delivers a high quality customer orientated service that covers a wide variety of activities related to the repair, renovation and improvement of local housing stock, including disabled adaptions in the council’s own housing stock.
What will you be doing?
- Dealing with all aspects of private sector housing, including Disabled Facilities Grants, minimum standards in rented accommodation, houses in multiple occupation, energy efficiency, residential caravans and empty homes.
- The team currently has a high demand for Disabled Facilities Grants therefore you will help deliver the Financial Assistance Policy and be involved in a range of housing inspections and enforcement work.
What do you need?
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to demonstrate the ability to maintain clear and accurate records
- An HND in Building Surveying/Building Studies (or equivalent), or you will be a qualified Environmental Health Practitioner
- You will be used to surveying and carrying out inspections to dwellings, able to prepare schedules of work, have knowledge and experience of current private sector housing legislation and guidance, be able to advise on improvements and have experience of administering improvement grant/loan schemes including disabled facilities grants
- You will ideally have full Housing, Health & Safety Rate System (HHSRS) certification
