Provide high quality care and support to our residents with mental health problems.

At the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, we put local people and businesses at the heart of everything we do, working in partnership with them to provide quality services that are responsive, effective and efficient. Committed to acting with openness, honesty, compassion and humility, we aim to listen and understand in a way that is respectful, encourages involvement and meets the needs of all our communities.

The Role:

We offer a wide range of services to support our residents with mental health problems, and in this important role you’ll join the Health and Mental Health Adult Social Care team that’s responsible for delivering exceptional care and assistance to our service users and their carers. You will have excellent knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and will use this statutory framework to coordinate care and support that is designed to meet and improve the individual requirements of everyone who depends on us, and carry out strength-based assessments that help people choose personal, need-specific outcomes.

But your work won’t stop here – you’ll also deliver integrated health and social care by supporting adults with serious mental health issues as they focus on their recovery, and help them to identify risks while ensuring that there is an appropriate protection plan in place. We’ll also expect you to coordinate the establishment of personalised safeguarding, and work towards agreed health and social care performance indicators and excellent standards of practice.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information

About You:

To be a success in this key role you’ll have a degree or diploma in social work, registration with Social Work England, a commitment to undertake further mental health professional training, and an enhanced DBS check. It’s essential that you have a good understanding of statutory duties under the Care Act 2014; MHA 1983 and MCA 2005. We require individuals with a firm commitment to equal opportunities policy and anti-discriminatory practice. We’ll also look for a good understanding of relevant legislation and guidance, excellent IT skills, and knowledge of electronic case management systems and safeguarding procedures.

You’ll be working with some of the most vulnerable people in our communities, so you’ll be a empathetic and caring communicator, skills you’ll also use when interacting with other stakeholders and colleagues. With the ability to undertake mental capacity assessments and respond appropriately using risk assessments and legislation to guide your practice, you’ll also be able to plan, manage and prioritise your workload while working in a complex, high pressure environment.

Join us, and you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays. And as a key member of our team, you’ll also enjoy plenty of opportunities for development and progression within our organisation.
