Sandwell Adult and Family Learning Service has an exciting opportunity for 2 full-time specialist tutors who have experience teaching in one or more of the following subjects, Employability, English, Digital, ESOL and Well-being.
We are looking for 2 experienced tutors who are able to deliver exceptional quality to support people back into education for work. The full-time posts will require inspiring tutors who have extensive knowledge of delivering one or more of the subjects. They will teach to members of the public who have been unsuccessful in obtaining employment for a long period time, they will require patience, understanding and the ability to plan programmes that run across multiple subject areas.
They must have the ability to create exciting programmes that will develop and support learners who have limited or no digital ability and the successful candidates will be able to plan bespoke programmes and resources to support individuals. They will be reactive to the ever-developing digital world and incorporate these aspects into programme development.
The specialist teaching roles are essential to meet the growing demands of our diverse community. You will need excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and a commitment to strive for outstanding quality of teaching and assessment.
The programmes will be planned and delivered at multiple points throughout the year, at any point you will have multiple courses starting and overlapping so the ability to multitask and remain organised is paramount. You will work with multiple agencies to ensure the best possible service and outcomes are obtained for the learners. Learners will each be offered 1-1 catch ups, that will be carried out and recorded by the successful candidates. You will be responsible for recruiting learners and monitoring their progress.
You will be required to work some evenings to meet the needs of the community. Saturdays are required at various points throughout the year e.g. during October when we take part in the national Family Learning Festival. Close teamwork within all curriculum areas including English and Maths, will be critical to the post, as well as supporting within other tailored learning programmes across a wide range of subjects. Candidates who demonstrate other specialist subject areas will deliver in those aspects of curriculum too.
Sandwell Adult and Family learning would welcome applicants who have a proven record of experience in the delivery of courses to adults 19years and above in both skills qualifications and tailored learning for a minimum of 2 years.
Sandwell Adult and Family Learning Service has 3 main learning centres across Sandwell. You will be predominantly based at our Hateley Heath office but travel between centres will be required, travelling expenses can be claimed according to the SMBC approved mileage scheme.
