We want our local residents to know that we are putting their safety and quality of life at the heart of every decision, and as such, the role of Strategic Asset Manager within our Housing Department is absolutely central to this vision. Join us, and discover for yourself how our ambitious and innovative team are constantly improving our services to benefit every member of our community.

The Role:

This is a fast-paced role in which you will join our friendly team in the office for four days a week, with one day working from home. With plenty of variety in every day, you will play key role in the asset, management of our housing stock portfolio. Landlord & tenant matters, including licences to alter and negotiation, as well as commercial property management and compliance. You will have a key role in preparing strategy reports and action plans about the council’s housing portfolio of more than 10,000 assets, which will in turn ensure its optimum usage and performance. The content of these reports will vary widely – from identifying the stock condition and performance of our housing assets, through to guiding investment decisions based on property data, you will play a crucial role in developing our Asset Management Strategy – a vital project that generates over £4million in revenue every year.

Ensuring information systems are configured and maintained appropriately, you will be our go-to person on design and technical standards across the department, and we will look to you to take the lead in reporting standards. As a trusted advisor to the Planning department, you will take a key role in future asset change programmes, so there is the exciting chance to shape the future of housing within the borough. You will also get directly involved in helping people lead better lives by creating information packages on homes, making recommendations on how these properties should be looked after.

With the scope to help us migrate from keystone software to another forecasting software tool, you will be encouraged to develop your expertise in forecasting for building works, and you will have access to a range of other learning and development opportunities.

There will be a key role to play as party of the councils net zero carbon program.

About You:

To make the most of this great role, you will need a relevant property qualification, so you will ideally be an Architect or a Surveyor, with knowledge of property development methods and legislation, a significant knowledge of Planned Preventative Maintenance Programs, component replacement and regeneration contracts. Comfortable managing multiple challenges in a fast-paced environment, a basic understanding of accounts and forecasting would be helpful (particularly as you will assist in compiling financial, acquisition and disposal reports), so you will be a highly numerate individual with a sharp eye for detail. Great report writing capabilities are obviously essential, and you will be both organised and versatile. Crucially you will be an inspirational leader with great communication skills, and an aptitude for negotiating with and guiding others. It would be helpful if you also have a knowledge of the issues faced in relation to commercial and residential property within social housing services, including an awareness of the UK and EU statutory and regulatory frameworks.

In turn, we can offer you a dynamic working environment, with the support of a knowledgeable team who are passionate about delivering the highest standards for our local residents. You will also receive a competitive benefits package that is enhanced by a desirable contributory pension scheme.
