Can you support our transport commissioning teams, customers and passenger transport providers to deliver compliant, safe and effective transport for those who need it most?
If so, we have an exciting role as Transport Safety Advisor available, working with our friendly and supportive Corporate Health and Safety Team. Your role will be to support and advise on the assessment process and safety requirements needed to ensure safe transport is provided for children and adults with specific needs.
The Council work in partnership with a wide range of external organisations and support leaders in our maintained schools. In this role you will work closely with internal teams, transport providers, service users and schools.
About this opportunity
As our Transport Safety Advisor, you will ensure that passengers with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) are assessed appropriately for risks associated with their home to school/ service transport. This includes working proactively with internal colleagues and external partners, providing advice and guidance to help them implement safe practices. These include provision of satisfactory vehicles, safe transport arrangements and suitable safety equipment to fulfil passenger needs.

Who we are looking for
The right person for this role will be an excellent communicator with experience of working with those with SEND, particularly in respect of safe transport. You will already possess a NEBOSH certificate or equivalent, but applications are welcomed from those who may already be working towards this, who have appropriate knowledge and experience. You will work well both as an individual and as enjoy working as part of a team. You will have a good knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act and other relevant legislation and guidance.
